Ronaldinho talks about Messi's future in Barcelona: his curious recommendation

Barcelona continues working day by day to try to settle the accounts in order to be able to renew Lionel Messi's contract. What did Ronaldinho say about Messi?   

One of those who spoke was none other than Ronaldinho, former player of the Catalan team and Messi's teammate in his first years in the First Division. The Brazilian did not hesitate: "Lionel must stay, he is the history of Barça". And he did not shut his mouth at all when he pointed out that "when he retires, which I hope will be in a long time, he can leave the '10' there and no one will touch it again".

Ronaldinho recalls that in Barcelona "everything was very nice" from the first day, from the first game. "It was something more than special," he said. He assured that it is not only in Barcelona where he has been happy, but that he has been happy in general "playing soccer". As for Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho recalled that when he arrived at Barça "there was already talk of a child" who stood out among the younger players.

"Then we were friends, we started playing together and we got along very well. He arrived being different from all the others, and we talked to Rijkaard to come and train with us, it was all very fast. I was lucky enough to give him the pass for his first goal. Over time, it is very nice to see from so close to someone who starts and then conquers the world," he recalls.

Ronaldinho comments that Messi did not leave him any particular lesson. "We were always very close friends, we learned things from day to day, he taught me Spanish and I taught him Portuguese, but with the ball we understood each other perfectly. I would keep how calm he is. That's something I love about him, he never gets into trouble, he's always with his family and those closest to him," he said.

Asked about what quality Messi could stay with Ronaldinho if he could, the Brazilian commented: "Leo has everything, he doesn't need anything from me. He has such good memories of his time at Barcelona that it is "impossible" to choose just one. "From the first game it was all joy, there are many memories. I think I arrived with thousands of people waiting for me at the stadium, being welcomed like that is like coming home" he admits.

Everything he asked of us he had already experienced before so he spoke to us in a very simple and direct way," he insists. Ronaldinho comments that the Dutchman gave him "a lot of freedom" to play his soccer, despite the tactical demands. "After all, when we didn't have the ball, we also had to fulfill our obligations. But when we did, he made me feel completely free," he insisted.
