Zinedine Zidane smiles and so do all the Real Madrid fans. It is that in June he made sure that one of the great stars of current football will put on his shirt again. No, it isn't Cristiano Ronaldo, who is close to returning to the Spanish club. But he is another great player who was also crowned champion in three consecutive editions of the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale stated that he plans to return to Real Madrid when his loan period runs out at the end of the season. The Welshman had fallen out of favor at the Bernabéu with Zinedine Zidane and returned to North London on a one-season loan deal last year.

Bale will only have one year left on his contract with Real Madrid as of the summer, and he had considered the possibility of extending his loan for one more season. However, despite a recent rebound, the 31-year-old has struggled to stay fit with José Mourinho, and his future is sure to be up for debate as the summer transfer window approaches.

"There's no distraction for me", Bale said at a press conference ahead of Wales' first qualifying game for the 2022 World Cup in Belgium. "I think the main reason I came to Spurs this year was to play soccer in the first place", he clarified. “Going into the Eurocup, I wanted to be in shape. The original plan was to spend a season at Spurs and after the Euro there is still a year left at Real Madrid. My plan is to go back, that's what I have planned”, he sentenced.
