Monterrey traveled to Texas, United States, to receive the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, once in the country of the stars and stripes the possibility has been opened for people under 60 years of age to be inoculated. The team led by Javier Aguirre traveled to the United States to receive the vaccine and returned to Mexico on Tuesday, once they have received the dose that protects them against Covid-19.

“Yes, we took advantage of the day off and came with some of the boys. It is a personal decision of each one, we had the day off and with some of the boys we made the decision to come so that's it”, confirmed Nicolás Sánchez, defender of the Rayados when he returned to Monterrey after receiving the biological.

"Yes for us, we are so exposed and since we were able to do it we took advantage of it", he added. For weeks, in Monterrey, the possibility of the team traveling to the United States to receive the vaccine was discussed. That option has materialized. In the United States, MLS teams have already received the Covid-19 vaccine and among the Mexican players who have benefited are Rodolfo Pizarro, from Inter Miami, Erick Torre and Jurgen Damm, the latter two from Atlanta FC.

In the country of the Star Bars, vaccination has been accelerated, because it was one of the promises of President Joe Biden, during his campaign. The current president assured that the entire population of the United States would be vaccinated in the first 100 days of his government. During Joe Biden's tenure, nearly three million people have been vaccinated every day.

In addition, the Rayados stadium was used as a vaccination center against Covid-19 by the government of Nuevo León. BBVA served as one of the headquarters so that the population could receive the biological in their car. So far, Monterrey is the only team that can boast that its squad was vaccinated, while other squads are looking for the option.
