Lionel Messi has been faced with the question of which football club he supports in his country Argentina, and many fans believe he supports one of the two top clubs River Plate and Boca Juniors though he has denied it many times.

He has all but confirmed he truly supports his boyhood club Newell's Old Boys after a photo of his termo surfaced online and has the logo of Argentina Football Association (AFA), Newell's Old Boys, FC Barcelona and his current club PSG.

The Argentinian football fans believe he insists on his support for Newell's not because he truly supports them but to avoid controversies from a rival fan in case he supports either of River Plate or Boca Juniors.

Messi spent his earlier football years with Newell's Old Boys in his hometown of Rosario in Argentina before signing for FC Barcelona in Spain where he has become a six times world footballer of the year.
