In his interview, Lionel Messi took the chance of letting go everything he had kept to himself about the former FC Barcelona president, and even made fun of him
In the interview Lionel Messi gave to La Sexta, the GOAT talked about last summer, that strange period where he tried to leave FC Barcelona but COVID-19 did not allowed him to. The president of the club at that time, Josep Maria Bartomeu, tried successfully to keep him at the club, against Messi's will though.
Messi, as he had told in another interview some months ago, stayed so he did not have to go to the court against the club he loves so much. Bartomeu ended up resigning in October. The Argentinian stated that the president lied to him several times for years, and ignored him when he needed him the most.
Also, the star talked about some jokes directed to Bartomeu, about he looked like Nobita, an anime character from the series Doraemon. Bartomeu even sued the youtuber who pointed the similarity. Messi said there were laughs in the dressing room about it, but he did not participate too much.
Surely, FC Barcelona fans are happy with everything Messi is saying about Bartomeu. His presidency was one of the worst the team has ever had, taking one of the most rich clubs in the world to insolvency and a huge debt that is not able to pay. He is out now, but the crisis stayed and will be around for a long time.
