The Ecuadorian striker Bryan Angulo will not be able to report with the Cruz Azul for the following Clausura 2021 season due to being accused of murder in his native country. The forward was loaned to Xolos de Tijuana team throughout 2020 and it was planned that he would report to Cruz Azul for early 2021, as the Tijuana Xolos purchase option was not validated, however these plans will not be able to be carried out, since the Ecuadorian player for the moment will not be able to leave his country for the next 6 months, until the situation is clarified

Of the three players that Cruz Azul had on loan, only Bryan Angulo will not be able to return, the others are Guillermo 'Pol' Fernández, who was with Boca Juniors and Walter Montoya with Racing Club. Forward Bryan Angulo has just been accused of murder by the city police during the early hours of December 25 in Guayaquil, due to a confusing incident. According to local media, the forward was on vacation in his country, and it was expected that he would return to Mexico in the next few days. Apparently, Bryan Angulo was involved in a fight that led to the death of citizen Vicente Paliz.

Press reports assure that Angulo will have to stay in Guayaquil for at least the next six months, while the investigation lasts, so he will not be able to return to Cruz Azul for the next season, which will surely cause the team to make the decision to resign his contract. Angulo's step was very poor in Cruz Azul and in Xolos, accumulating only 4 goals in 30 games played. The Ecuadorian player came to Mexico as a promise after being a great scorer with Emelec, where he scored 80 goals in 125 games.
