Another big club in Europe that has a hard time financially. Juventus on Friday reported losses of 210 million euros ($ 250 million) for the 2020-21 financial year, which it attributed mainly to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the transfer market and ticket sales.

Revenue from player registration fees, the transfer market, fell 129 million euros (more than 150 million dollars) in the period 2019-20, while ticket sales plummeted more than 41 million euros ($ 48 million dollars) compared to a year earlier.

While the declines were partially offset by an increase in television rights revenue, overall the losses were more than double those recorded in the 2019-20 financial year, and Juventus, like so many others, are now suffering the consequences.

Juventus said it continues to cling to the European Super League project promoted by club president Andrea Agnelli, despite the rapid collapse of the plan revealed in April when nine of the 12 teams involved gave up on the plan after receiving criticism from the public. "Until today it is not possible to predict with certainty the outcome and future development of the Superliga project, and Juventus continues to believe in its legitimacy," said the authorities of the Turin team.
