Since the day in which Andrés Iniesta decided to leave FC Barcelona to play in Japan side Vissel Kobe, the Catalan club has been working to find his replacement. It was known that the Spanish midfielder had an incredible relationship with Lionel Messi on the field and Barça wanted someone who could occupy his position.

Convinced that Ajax had some players with that conditions, Barcelona decided to pay $90 million from Frenkie de Jong and signed him on July 2019. The midfielder was formed at Willem, then passed to Ajax and finally arrived to Barcelona. But the Dutch couldn’t really fulfill the expectations that were deposited on him so far.

After 64 matches played, he has scored just four goals and given seven assists. De Jong is an important player in the consideration of Ronald Koeman and Barcelona has now got competition in their desire to maintain him with them, as Bayern Munich has show interested on signing him.

German newspaper Bild assured that Bayern are working hard to convince the playmaker to leave from Barcelona, club in which he has a contract signed until 2026. With just 23 years old, he has a reported value of $65 million nowadays, according to specialized website Transfermarkt, and that is the reason why Bayern should negotiate with Barcelona to sign him.
