Ronald Koeman already has the forwards that he requested from the Barcelona board for the 2021-22 season. Taking advantage of the end of the contract with their respective clubs, the Barça president, Joan Laporta, secured the signings at zero cost of Sergio Agüero and Memphis Depay, two players with a great poster in Europe, but who were not exactly the dream of the Dutch coach.
According to the Spanish newspaper ‘Don Balon’, his hiring was more of a market opportunity than a desire of the coach. The aforementioned source points out that if there is a forward with whom Koeman dreams for Barcelona, that is none other than Romelu Lukaku, Inter Milan attacker and one of the figures of the last European Championship who was already under the orders of the Barça coach in Everton of the Premier League.
In Liverpool, the Dutchman was in awe of Lukaku's style of play and promised that one day their paths would come together again. So far, they have not met again, although Barcelona could be a good place to do so. The problem for Barcelona is that Lukaku is not a cheap forward and these days, the money they have at Camp Nou is not enough to make stellar hires. According to the portal ‘Transfermarkt’, the Belgian, who has a contract with Inter until 2024, is valued at 100 million euros.
