Club America suffered a horrible end of the season, in which they were eliminated on tournament Guard1anes by Chivas and then on Concacaf Champions League by Los Angeles FC. After such bad results, Miguel Herrera left his position and the sport advisers from the Liga MX side started to working to find his replacement.
After some negotiations, they arrived to a deal with who was once the coach of Real Madrid: Santiago Solari. According to what El Desmarque published, Solari will earn $400,000 per month at America. This will be his third experience as a principal coach, as he managed before Real Madrid and Real Madrid Castilla. Since he left the Galacticos, in 2019, he worked doing marketing functions for the Spanish club.
Solari passed through Mexico as a player. From July 2009 to August 2010, he played at Atlante, before moving to Peñarol and announcing his retirement on 2011. Previously he also played for Newell’s former side, Club Renato Cesarini, River Plate, Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid, Inter and San Lorenzo.
