Chelsea: see reasons why they may not win the title despite being top of the league

The Europe champion squad depth looks so good on paper but in reality it's all a mirage. Compared to other title contenders like Manchester City and Liverpool. Chelsea injuries say a lot about how strong the squad depth is. 

Chelsea's most reliable midfielder N'golo Kante has not been in his best form this season. The team will be facing Burnley this weekend without three strikers, Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Timo Wener. Kovacic, who has been keeping the midfield tidy in the absence of N'golo Kante, injured himself in the team training session on Thursday. 

He will be out of action till after the international break. The team was boosted with the return of the team captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen. Thomas Tuchel is aware of the task ahead of them to win the Premier League. Even though they have started the season on a high note, it's not enough if it can't be sustained and clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool have set the standard. 

Tuchel added: “Like I said many times, Liverpool and (Manchester) City set the standards during the last four or five years now and they showed how many points you have to earn to win this league.

“I’m pretty sure there are a lot of teams out there who are hungry for points and so no predictions from me about how this thing ends.

“We are almost through October and November is coming and there is so much needed in terms of focus, concentration and consistency. It’s not enough to prove it (that we’ve closed the gap) for nine games, we need to prove it through our season and it will take all our courage, effort and discipline.”
