The Portuguese national team failed to secure their Qatar 2022 World Cup ticket after a draw with Ireland. This may spell trouble for Cristiano Ronaldo as he may miss the opportunity to go to his last possible World Cup.

Portugal was unable to find the back of the net in 90 minutes as they were held to a goalless draw by Ireland. Despite the draw Portugal top group A with 17 points and 12 goals difference.

This is not enough to earn them a spot at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and this is where the draw against Ireland spell trouble. For them to qualify for the World Cup, they will need to win their next game against Serbia or they will have to risk deciding their fate in the playoff.

If they are unable to get a win against Serbia and nothing could break them at the end, e.g. goal difference, goal scored, and head to head. they will have no choice but to decide their fate in the playoffs and this can go either way. There will be a lot of pressure on them and Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver the next match and secure their spot in Qatar.
