It’s not any news that when transfer markets open, there can be many big clubs chasing the same player. In this case, there is a young defender who was allegedly set to be signed by Liverpool in the future, until Chelsea and Manchester United got in the middle. Now, there is a club that could beat them all to the new star: Bayern Munich.

When asked by Sky Sports, Bayern Munchen’s sporting director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the club is absolutely interested in RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano. He recognized they have a particularly good relationship with player’s agent Volker Struth, but at the same time, he left clear they know that Bayern is not the only interested team in the French defender.

Upamecano had his outbreak in the last UEFA Champions League, in which his club, RB Leipzig, reached semi-finals after beating Atlético de Madrid in the quarterfinals played in Lisbon, Portugual. The 22-year-old signed his name in the score sheet and gained lots of attention around Europe and the rest of the world. According to Transfermarkt, his current transfer could cost $72 million.

Born in Evereux, France, Upamecano holds Bissau-Guinean heritage. He emerged from Valenciennes FC, but later was signed for Red Bull Salzburg for $2.7 million, and later sold in $12 million to Red Bull Leipzig in 2018. He signed a contract that expires at the end of 2022-2023 season. Will he move to the Premier League, or will he stay in the Bundesliga?
