Barcelona are looking ahead into the future after putting a past behind them with the departure of Ronald Koeman after the Dutch manager was eventually sacked after one of the worst starts to a season for the Spanish giants.
Barcelona B manager Sergi Bajuan will oversee the match and possibly more games before the arrival of a new coach, most likely Xavi Hernandez. Bajuan's first game to impress the Barcelona bosses and hope he could nail the job down permanently just like Pep Guardiola will be against Deportivo Alaves.
Barcelona are currently ninth in La Liga with just 15 points while Deportivo Alaves are 16th and have just nine points. Six points separate the two teams on the La Liga table.
The two teams have met 25 times, Barcelona have won 18 times while Alaves have won four, while three have ended in a draw. The last time Alaves beat Barcelona was at Camp Nou in 2016 in an embarrassing 2-1 defeat for the Blaugrana.
