According to information provided by the newspaper ‘Sport’, Barcelona has decided and wants that the first season without Messi in the Barça entity, no one should wear his number. Or at least the intention is that. Within Barcelona it was thought about removing the number '10', but LaLiga regulations do not allow removing a shirt with a specific number, so the idea is that it remains free. However, if and only if due to the need for numbers, it was essential to give that shirt to one of the footballers, the '10' would be for one of the homegrown players from Ronald Koeman's squad.

According to information in the newspaper ‘As’, on August 8, the day Messi said goodbye at a press conference to everything that has to do with Barcelona, he took the opportunity to go through the Barca dressing room to collect some belongings. It was a "lightning visit to the changing room in order to collect the objects that he did not take from the box office before the summer, believing that he would continue in the Blaugrana entity," says the media.
