Xavi Hernandez's first UEFA Champions League match as Barcelona head coach did not go as the club would have wanted. The club faced a must win situation but could only record a goalless draw which makes their qualification a permutation and combination.

Ronald Koeman lost two games against Bayern Munich and Benfica and beat Dynamo Kyiv before he was sacked. Interim manager Sergi Bajuan also recorded a win against Dynamo Kyiv leaving Barcelona's fate in their hands but Xavi has now thrown it away.

Barcelona are now on the brink of a possible elimination from the Champions League group stages if results don't go their way in the final match day fixtures.

Xavi's men would need a beyond ordinary performance to beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in Germany. They could hope for a draw at best and hope Benfica gets any result other than a win against Dynamo Kyiv. It's a difficult and dangerous situation regardless.
