Arsenal is the longest surviving on top flight in soccer

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Athletic Bilbao, and it's over. Referring to the five major leagues in Europe are the untouchables, those who never played in a category other than the First Division. And it is that although there could be included PSG (created in 1970), the two clubs from which it emerged, Stade Saint-Germain and Paris FC, did play in the Second Division.

The Spanish League, created in 1929, supports three clubs that always played in the First Division: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. Serie A only maintains as indisputable throughout history, since 1929, Inter Milan. Juventus, the most successful club in Italy, was administratively demoted in 2006; Milan also suffered an administrative decline in 1980 and was relegated on the field in 1982, as did Rome in 1951.

In Germany, Hamburg resisted, until their relegation in 2018 so that the Bundesliga did not have untouchable clubs and six are the English clubs that always played in the Premier League: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton are immovable in the English first category, born in 1992.

But all of them, in the past, suffered the trauma of some descent. Although it is true that the English League is the oldest in Europe and that Arsenal, for example, has remained indisputable in the top flight since 1919, a time when most national championships did not exist.
