This Wednesday, exclusive information was known about the new judicial advance of Kathryn Mayorga, the woman who denounced Cristiano Ronaldo for, according to her version, having sexually abused her 12 years ago. The woman, who ended up withdrawing the lawsuit and the case was finally dismissed for lack of evidence in 2019, is now claiming compensation for the damages suffered.
The case came to light in April 2017 and in 2018 she experienced the most intense moments of her when the former model sued the footballer because she had allegedly sexually assaulted her and then forced to sign a confidentiality agreement in exchange for USD 375,000. Regarding that agreement, she explained to the Justice that she was "mentally incapacitated" when she signed it. After several months in which it seemed that the Portuguese striker was going to be called to the bench, the prosecuting party dropped the lawsuit in June 2019 and later the case was closed due to lack of evidence, according to the County District Attorney's Office from Clark, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Now, according to the documents to which the British site Mirror had access, Mayorga claims financial compensation according to the consequences he suffered: "He wants 18 million pounds for past pain and suffering, 18 million for future pain and suffering and 18 million in punitive damages”, the article points out. To that are added legal expenses that stretch the figure to just over 56 million pounds, that is, USD 78 million, a number equivalent to two years of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract with Juventus.
The Italian club's striker has publicly denied the accusations and never had to appear in court, but instead left the case in the hands of his lawyers: “What they said today is false news. They want to be famous by naming me. It is part of my job. It is normal. Everything is fine”, she had declared in September 2018 in dialogue with the German newspaper Der Spiegel, when it was learned that Mayorga had managed to reopen the case.
According to the documents to which the Mirror had access, the woman will present about 60 witnesses including Las Vegas police officers and the former British star of Big Brother Jasmine Lennard, 35, who claims to have had an affair with the former forward of the Manchester United a decade ago.
