The millionaire offer that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rejected
The actual best footballers of the world said no to a millionaire opportunity and lost a fortune.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are more than just players, they become celebrities because everybody wants to be like them. Not only fans, but also other athletes. This means that there are a lot of brands looking for opportunities to use them for a commercial, but sometimes they have to say no.
This time, there was no brand. It was a government. Saudi Arabia make a huge offer to Cristiano to make him the face of a tourism campaign for the country. Apparently, the exact same offer was made to Lionel Messi a few weeks ago. What was the reason of the rejection? Nobody knows, but the fans are assuming some things.
There is a rumor that it was because of political reasons, they did not want to get involved in propaganda. But the offer was a real temptress, Saudi Arabia government was willing to pay $6 million dollars to sign the contract. That is a three months’ salary for CR7 and even a little more for Lionel Messi.
These kinds of players are tired of earning money, they have already set their advertising brands they like and it is really hard for a government to get them. There would have to be a huge offer for that to happen. But with $6 million dollars, any other regular footballer would sign the contract.
