Through Allocation Money, FC Cincinnati has acquired Alvaro Barreal, a 20-year-old winger, who had his first soccer experience in a world champion: Vélez Sarsfield. The MLS team made a great effort to sign him after they spent $1.5M for 75% of his rights.

With 18 appareances, including two starts, Barreal made his proffesional debut at 2018 in Vélez Sarsfield against Boca Juniors. He scored only one goal on Febraruy 4, 2019 against River Plate. Also, he has experienced the Argentinean national shirt after playing with the U-20s in the 2018 COTIF tournament in Valencia, Spain.

“In our opinion, Álvaro Barreal is this type of potential talent who can compete within our squad and must now take the next step in his career at FC Cincinnati," General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. He will occupy an international roster slot and be added to FC Cincinnati’s 2020 roster upon the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
