Cruz Azul and have each played two home games at the Ciudad Universitaria Olympic Stadium during the 2020 Apertura championship due to the refections that are been made at the Azteca stadium. Neither way, 'La Máquina Cementera' had paid higher rent for the UNAM stadium than the 'Aguilas Doradas'. Why did they pay a different rental price?
The request made by America's President Santiago Baños to allow the Aguilas Doradas to play two home games, on August 1 and on August 13, at the Pumas UNAM stadium, where packed in a single contract. UNAM accepted America's request in exchange for $652.426, plus some other conditions conditions.
Whereas, Cruz Azul made two different contracts to play their home games at the Ciudad Universitaria Olympic Stadium. For the first game La Maquina Cementera was charged with $384,939 for using the property in the game against Santos Laguna. For the second game, Cruz Azul paid $326,213. In total, the loan of the UNAM's stadium costed $711,152 pesos for Cruz Azul.
Cruz Azul ended up paying almost 60 thousand pounds more than America to play two home games at the Ciudad Universitaria Olympic Stadium. The negotiations of Cruz Azul with UNAM were carried out by Isaac Velasco, as Legal Representative of Cruz Azul Futbol Club AC.
Besides for the amounts paid by both America and Cruz Azul, Pumas UNAM demanded a loan insurence of 10 million pounds in case that either of the two teams, in any of the four different games played at the Ciudad Universitaria Olympic Stadium, caused damages in the stadium facilities.
