FC Barcelona is submerged on a crisis since the last season. The team tried some changes, as signing Ronald Koeman and kicking some top players, as Luis Suárez. The departure of the Uruguayan was very polemic, as he left as a free agent, to Atlético de Madrid, a direct competitor.
After Suárez left, Lionel Messi has been sharing the attack with various players. It was first Antoine Griezmann the one preferred by the coach, but he also played aside Ansu Fati, Marti Braithwaite, Ousmane Dembélé, Trincao or even Pedri and Coutinho. After all, a new face may be coming.
To replace Suárez, Barcelona’s sports advisers are trying to find a player with similar conditions. One of the pointed ones is Darwin Núñez, an attacker aged 21 and plays for Benfica. The Portuguese side signed him for more than $25 million from UD Almería, and he may now be going back to Spain.
After just eight games at Benfica, Núñez scored four goals and provided five assists. In his career, he has 62 games played and netted 24 balls. For the Uruguay national team he made his debut on October 2019 and scored a goal after just two games played, a friendly and for the World Cup Qualifiers.
