On sacking Thomas Tuchel for an inconsistent domestic challenge in 2020, PSG appointed former Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino to lead a star-studded side. The PSG squad already contained the Top 2 most expensive players in the world, Neymar & Mbappe; and also had some of the highest earners in football history. Thus, it was necessary to pay their coach very well too.

On signing a 2-year contract with the Paris club, Pochettino was placed on a bumper salary alongside his coaching crew. Pochettino negotiated a very interesting salary system that will see him earn more money every year. In his first year, Pochettino will earn a basic salary of €525,000 monthly with performance bonuses that could take his salary up to €940,000 monthly.

In his second year, Pochettino is expected to earn €625,000 in basic salary. If the optional third year is activated, he will earn €670,000 monthly. When you compare with the highest-paid coach in the Liga MX, Pochettino earns more than double.

The highest-paid coach in the Mexican Liga MX is Ricardo Ferretti who coaches Tigres UNAL in the Mexican top-flight. Ferretti earns an annual salary of $3.8m which is about €3.24m. This means that the Tigres coach earns a monthly salary of $317,000. This is just about half of the $616,000 that Pochettino earns at PSG.
