21-year-old Kylian Mbappe has had a meteoric rise in football that belies his age and status. The French forward was 5 years ago playing in the youth teams for Monaco before he broke onto the scene. Since then, he has won 4 Ligue 1 titles and the World Cup amidst other numerous domestic titles.  PSG paid a mandatory €180m for his transfer from Monaco in 2018 after Mbappe impressed during a season-long in the 2017-18 season.

His unique combination of pace, deadly finishing and strength has made him the target of many other European powerhouses. Real Madrid is thought to be his preferred destination amidst a current standoff between Mbappe and PSG over the extension of his current contract. Mbappe's contract has entered the last 12 months of its tenure and the player has given no signs of extending the contract yet.

However, PSG is ready to offer the French forward more money to convince him to stay at the capital club. Mbappe's meteoric rise in football has also seen him earn massively more than he was earning while on the books of Monaco 5 years ago. In 2016, the Monaco academy player was on a paltry £60 a week wage. When he became a first-team regular, he was offered a new contract with a significant pay raise to £20,000 in weekly wages.

When Mbappe moved to PSG on loan during the 2017-18 season, he got another significant increment in his wages, now earning a massive £308,000 weekly in wages. Since 2017, PSG has given the forward 2 pay raises, increasing his salary to £311,000 in 2019 and then to £378,000 in 2020. Now, the Qatari-owned club is ready to offer him another increase to £403,000 to make him stay at the Parc des Princes. Mbappe is said to be worth over £73m in total net worth.
