FC Barcelona decided in a very polemic and criticized decision to let Luis Suárez out. The Uruguayan striker had a contract remaining with the club but both president Josep María Bartomeu and head coach Ronald Koeman kicked him from the club, and he signed with Atlético de Madrid.

Even though Antoine Griezmann is now occupying his position, the French attacker has said several times that he felt comfortable in another part of the field. Now Barcelona is looking for their new Suárez and that can be another Uruguay who is playing in Europe as well, but who has just 21 years.

His name is Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro, and he was born in Artigas, Uruguay. Formed in Peñarol, he left the club to sign with Almería on August 2019 and after just a year Benfica decided to pay more than $25 million for him. Now, his name appears in the radar of Barcelona.

With a contract remaining with the Portuguese club until June 2025, his only way out seems to be a transfer. Barcelona is now in a hard financial situation and Darwin Núñez could be their last big investment before deciding not to sign any other players for a period of time to accommodate the financial issues.
