If we ask you who are ruling the Spanish La Liga since almost a whole decade, you’d probably name Real Madrid and Barcelona. We would give you a positive mark but also include Atlético Madrid in the list. They have been dominating the country and also, have the most expensive squads in the league.

Now, would you imagine Atlético de Madrid’s squad is more expensive than Zinedine Zidane’s men? No? Well, it is. The Merengues overall market value is €742 million, or $897.82 million. Atlético de Madrid’s is €769 million, or netter said, $930.49 million. They are both composed by 22 players. The average price is $40.81 million and $42.29 million per player respectively.

For this surprising overtaking we must mention two important facts that forced this: Real Madrid lost an expensive player like Martin Odegaard ($48.4 million), who had to struggle for minutes in the first team and was loaned to English Premier League’s Arsenal FC. Also, Atlético made a last-minute deal and signed Moussa Dembelé ($36.3 million) on loan from Olympique Lyon.

Barcelona is leading the ranking with an overall market value of €807 million ($976.47 million), which is although the lowest figure since 2017, after Neymar’s departure to PSG. Composed by 27 players, it has an average price of $36.16 million per man. With a reported price of $96.8 million, Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati are the most expensive players.
