Nowadays, social media is a good indicator of the popularity of the big organisations. They have a good worldwide recognized product, and they show it to the whole planet. And that is the case with soccer clubs. Some are more popular than others, and that is reflected in the number of followers.
Deloitte Football Money League released the 2020 report and revealed the ranking of the most followed clubs counting all kinds of social media existent, and it turned out that the leader of that ranking has the incredible amount of 251 million followers. Only four countries have more population than that.
And that club is Real Madrid, with the followers split betweenFacebook (110.9 millions), Instagram (94.5), Twitter (35.7), YouTube(6.2) and TikTok (4.2). Behind them FC Barcelona stands, and very close, with 248 millions. Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea complete the Top 5.
Anyway, Real Madrid has still less than the most followed player. Cristiano Ronaldo has 257 million followers on Instagram alone, making a record of the most liked individual in social media. When he played there, the GOAT of social media was at the biggest social media club.
