Manchester United will visit Crystal Palace on Sunday evening on what will be the last game of the season for the Red Devils in the 2021-22 Premier League season, and with it the end of one of the worst seasons in their recent history.

Manchester United have a Plan B if they can’t convince Frenkie de Jong to join them

United needs a victory to ensure finishing the season standing sixth and with a ticket to UEFA Europa League, but if they lose, they will leave their fate in the hands of West Ham United, who with a victory over Brighton Hove & Albion, will send the Red Devils to the Conference league instead.

The visit of the Red Devils to Selhurst Park will also mark the return of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the team that formed him professionally before joining Manchester United in 2019, when they paid $58 million to the Eagles for his economic rights.

Wan-Bissaka is under contract with United until 2024, but he knows that he might not have his place ensured in the team for next season once Erik ten Hag assumes the coaching role, which is why he’s looking for a new deal before July 1st.

He wants a contract extension but lost his starting role

According to reports from The Mirror, the 24-year-old English right-back knows that this is the perfect moment to ask for a new deal, especially since United blocked any offers for him during the past winter transfer window.

Back then, he was still the starting right-back for Ralf Rangnick, but after missing a few games in January due to illness, he lost his role to Diogo Dalot, who has become an essential player in Rangnick’s lineup since he was given the opportunity to start.

But the only answer he’s received so far from Old Trafford is that both parties should wait to know what the plans of Erik ten Hag are before taking a decision regarding his continuity in Manchester United, as it will be the Dutchman the one who has the final decision regarding the current roster.

His future could be far from Premier League

Erik ten Hag isn’t keen on any of the right-backs that the Red Devils currently have and given the age and market value that Wan-Bissaka has, he could be on the move over the summer. According to reports from Football News 24, La Liga side Atlético Madrid is interested in his addition after losing Kieran Tripper to Newcastle United in January.
