Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are the biggest clubs in La Liga, and it is obvious from just looking at the caliber of players they have in their squads. With world-class players in the squad comes high wages from the players. Real Madrid has an exciting squad that includes club veterans, youngsters, and the young generation that is taking over football right now. FC Barcelona has many world-class players as well, but their economic crisis has led the wage bill to decrease, meaning fewer world-class players will be able to sign this summer.

La Liga released a list of all 20 clubs in the league's salary limit after the summer transfer window and after the recent January transfer window. Only seven clubs in the league have a salary limit that is six figures. Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal, and Sevilla are the teams with a salary limit that reaches six figures, along with Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona after the winter transfer window.

After the summer transfer window, FC Barcelona's salary limit was 270 million euros. Now, the number has decreased after the winter transfer window to just 204,161,000 million euros. FC Barcelona's current wage bill is reportedly over 500 million euros. FC Barcelona's president Joan Laporta has reportedly worked on lowering the wage bill to meet the La Liga salary limit but will now have to work harder to reach the new low limit. The club is considering selling players with high wages in order to avoid FFP rules and sign players with reasonable wages.

Real Madrid's salary limit is higher than FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid combined

Atletico Madrid's salary limit after the winter transfer window is at 303,408,000 million euros. Together with FC Barcelona's salary limit, the total would be around 507 million euros. Real Madrid tops that limit as La Liga reveals their salary limit being at 727,451,000 million euros.
