Another thing many can recognize about Argentina is the mate. Many Argentinian players have openly been drinking their mates before or after a football game. Messi has been seen drinking a mate for a while, and now more players, including players who aren't Argentinian, are drinking mates as well. This is a fact in Liverpool's case as Argentinian player Alexis Mac Allister has influenced his teammates to drink a mate with him.

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes video for LFC TV, Alexis Mac Allister spoke about his time at Liverpool, Argentina, and also taught the fans about making a mate. Mac Allister did not forget his roots in Argentina, as he had drunk a mate before and after his games with Liverpool. Mac Allister mentioned the Liverpool players he had brought mates to. Mac Allister said, "I bought one for Ibou [Ibrahima Konate], Dom [Szoboszlai] and [Kostas] Tsimikas as well, The only one [who likes it] is Dom. When I come in the morning, he always asks for some mate. I share with him."

Mac Allister also spoke about Darwin Nunez sharing a mate with him when he first arrived. Mac Allister said, "When I arrived at Liverpool, Nunez gave me some yerba mate, but it was bad, so I taught him and now he is improving.
