Liverpool defeated Brentford 3-1 away from home and remain top of the Premier League table. Liverpool ended their bad streak at Gtech Community Stadium since Brentford was promoted in 2021. Liverpool are now on 57 points, but the win came at a hefty cost.

The first half was electric, as both teams had clear chances to score. Before the opener of Liverpool arrived, Curtis Jones lost a 50-50 battle for the ball, resulting in getting injured. Jones wasn't able to continue, and Ryan Gravenberch replaced him. A minute later, after Jones’ injury, Liverpool scored the opener. Brentford was attacking Liverpool, but Virgil Van Dijk cleared the ball away with a kick that went far from his box. Jota headed the ball to Darwin Nunez, which left him on a 1v1 with Brentford keeper Mark Flekken. Nunez dribbled closer to Flekken and smartly chipped the keeper when the Dutch goalie was further out of his line. It was a great goal to give Liverpool the lead.

Diogo Jota went down only 10 minutes after Jones’ injury and needed a stretcher to get off the pitch. He seemed to have a problem with his knee but was seen walking into the dressing room before the second half started. Mohamed Salah replaced him late in the first half, but he would already make an impact on his return.

In the 55th minute, Mo Salah finds a great ball for Alexis Mac Allister in the box. Mac Allister controls the ball perfectly, and the touch is away from the Brentford defender. All that was left was for the Argentine to toe-poke the ball past Flekken and give Liverpool the 2-0. In the 68th minute, Kelleher’s long kick met with Cody Gakpo's head. Gakpo’s flicked header left Salah with lots of space between the Brentford defense. The Egyptian was on a 1v1 with the last Brentford defender. Salah held off the last defender and sent the ball past Flekken into the bottom right corner.

In the 75th minute, Brentford scored a goal back after Ivan Toney scored to make it 3-1. A fantastic save from Kelleher from Sergio Reguilon's shot led to it bouncing back to Toney, who finished the chance. Liverpool struck again in the 86th minute after terrible defending from Brentford. Luis Diaz passed the ball through a Brentford defender's leg, leaving Gakpo on a 1v1 with Flekken. Gakpo calmly slots the ball in the bottom left corner.
