Liverpool currently taking the 1-0 lead against Brentford at halftime at the Gtech Community Stadium. Both teams are looking for the three points, as it makes a huge difference in the league table. Liverpool struggled early in the game as Brentford was the most threatening between the two. Brentford had the first chance of the game in the 4th minute when Janelt took a left-footed shot that went wide.

After a lot of pressing from the Brentford team, Liverpool started to get more of the ball and create their first dangerous chance. In the 10th minute, Conor Bradley almost scored with an outside-the-foot shot after drifting infield from his right-back position. Brentford keeper Flekken makes the save, but the rebound fell to Diogo Jota. Jota took a shot toward the goal, but Flekken made another save.

In the 15th minute, Brentford were close again after a pass from Maupay to Ivan Toney in the box. Toney’s shot just goes wide past the right post. Liverpool were lucky not to concede there, but the game has been a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. Toney took a free kick just outside the Liverpool box, but the shot went straight to Kelleher, who is replacing the injured Alisson.

After a few quick passes from Brentford, a long pass was set for Toney to battle the ball with Konate. Toney got to the ball first, but his tame shot was easy for Kelleher to collect. A minute later, Liverpool continued to create more chances, and as a ball fell to Jota outside the box, he shot the ball toward the goal, but Flekken got a hand to it.

In the 35th minute, Van Dijk clears the ball away from his box that goes past the halfway line. The ball goes to Jota, and the Portuguese head the ball to Darwin Nunez, who was all alone against Flekken. Nunez takes a touch, and as he decides where to slot the ball, he chips the Dutch keeper and scores the opener for Liverpool. Nunez has now scored his 13th goal for Liverpool this season in all competitions.

Despite taking the lead, Liverpool suffered two injuries in the first half in Curtis Jones and Jota. The Liverpool injury list keeps increasing for the team, and Jurgen Klopp was visibly unhappy about the injuries.
