No to Liverpool? Premier League coach hints replacing Klopp is not in his plans

Liverpool has been working on adding names to the shortlist of replacements for Jurgen Klopp. Klopp will leave the club at the end of the season, and Liverpool is targeting multiple managers who have the experience and provide great football. The number one target is Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen, but other names have also been linked to Liverpool these past few weeks.

Despite Alonso being the favorite to coach Liverpool next season, the club is looking at other names in case Alonso decides to stay an extra year at Leverkusen or moves to a different club. Another link has been Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi. Brighton is preparing for the potential departure of De Zerbi from the club this summer. De Zerbi is also linked to a move to Manchester United after reportedly causing interest from INEOS. CEO of INEOS and partial owner of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is looking for improvements for Manchester United in all aspects of the club, including the boarding staff.

Another strong candidate rumored to replace Klopp is Ange Postecouglou from Tottenham Hotspur. The links from him joining Liverpool started when it was revealed that the Australian manager was a Liverpool fan. Postecouglou joined Tottenham last summer and has placed them 4th in the Premier League so far with 47 points. Tottenham was the league leader for a while early in the season, but injuries and a poor run of form dropped them down. Tottenham are 7 points below Liverpool, who are league leaders, and are one of two teams in the league to beat Liverpool this Premier League season. Spurs have reportedly stated that they are confident in keeping Postecouglou past this season, and the manager himself has assured them that he would like to stay. In a press conference today, he confirmed his will to stay at Spurs.

Ange Postecouglou laughs off questions about Liverpool in his press conference

Postecouglou was asked about the rumors of him possibly replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool next season, which the Australian manager laughed off the speculation. Postecouglou said, "I don’t think I want to say anything about that because that’s never going to enter my brain space given my priorities in life and my profession right now. If it’s just people throwing up names, who cares?"
