Both Joan Laporta and Deco agreed on wanting Xavi to stay longer, but the agreements ended there. Laporta is very interested in appointing Hansi Flick as the new Barcelona coach for next season. Flick was successful at Bayern Munich from 2019 to 2021. Flick won the treble in his first season as Bayern Munich manager. Flick was the assistant of former Bayern manager Niko Kovac. Flick was promoted to the interim manager role after Kovac left the German club by mutual consent. He was offered a three-year contract in 2020, but it didn't last till 2023 because Flick announced he wanted to leave the club at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

During his tenure, he won seven trophies for Bayern Munich, including the treble that included the Bundesliga, Champions League, and the DFB- Pokal. He won the Bundesliga again in the second season, along with UEFA Super Cup, DFL Supercup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. New reports suggest that Flick is learning Spanish, and is eager to coach Barca next season. Laporta believes Flick to be the right man to replace Xavi as the Barca coach, but Deco disagrees. They still have time to bring in a new manager, but both Laporta and Deco would like to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
