Xavi Hernandez has looked to have FC Barcelona ticking recently in La Liga. After his announcement of leaving the club on June 30th, Barcelona have won two La Liga games in a row. Barcelona has not primarily focused on La Liga but rather on the Champions League.

FC Barcelona won their first game after Xavi’s announcement at home against Osasuna when they won 1-0 by a Vítor Roque goal. After that, they traveled to Álava to play Deportivo Alaves. Barca won 3-1 away from home to make it two wins in a row for the first time since November when they defeated Real Sociedad and Deportivo Alavés back to back.

After Girona drew to Real Sociedad 0-0 and Real Madrid drew with Atletico Madrid 1-1 last night, Barca has 50 points and is 8 points below Real Madrid, who are top of La Liga with 58 points. Girona, who are second, has 56 points while Atletico is 4th with 48 points. After the Alaves win, Xavi mentioned his decision as the reason for the positive results. Xavi says, “Winning is always positive and there are two victories after my decision to leave. I already said that it was necessary, and here is the team's reaction. Today, finally, we have been more effective. The team has fought. We have been good with and without the ball. It was a good game that strengthens us." While the decision seems to be positive for the team's performance, FC Barcelona receives more good news knowing a manager is making an effort to join sooner rather than later.
