FC Barcelona has pulled two wins back to back in La Liga after defeating Osasuna 1-0 and Deportivo Alaves 3-1. Xavi and the team look to get closer to a potential title race as Girona and Real Madrid dropped points over the weekend. Barca are 8 points behind league leaders Real Madrid and 6 points behind Girona. FC Barcelona is convinced by some of the players due to the circumstances the squad is currently facing.
The team faces many injuries in the squad, like Gavi, Joao Felix, Alejandro Balde, and Ferran Torres. The club is thinking of completing the signings of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix since both players are at the club on a season-long loan. Barca is also interested in offering a new contract for Frenkie De Jong, whose current contract expires in 2026. A player who is not in the future plans is Sergi Roberto.
Sergi Roberto has played six games in La Liga with three goals and one assist. He has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season. The Barca captain signed a contract extension last year that included a buyout clause of 400 million euros. The contract is set to expire this summer.

Sergi Roberto's contract is reported to not be renewed by FC Barcelona
According to Relevo, FC Barcelona has decided against renewing Sergi's contract. He will leave as a free agent in the summer. Xavi leaving the club pushes Sergi Roberto further away from a renewal. Sergi Roberto posted yesterday a message for the Barca fans on Instagram saying, "After a very complicated month of January, we are more united than ever. We will give everything these remaining four months for all of you and for the coach."
