Both teams had chances to score in the first half, but the main taking point was the injuries that FC Barcelona suffered. In the 23rd minute, Frenkie De Jong jumps and twists his ankle as he lands on the ground. The Dutch midfielder couldn't stand up and needed to be stretchered off. A vehicle was needed to take the player out of the field since he felt lots of pain. De Jong was substituted by Fermin Lopez.
In the 31st minute, Bilbao keeper Simon raced out of his goal to clear the ball. The clearance fell to Joao Cancelo and the Portuguese tried to chip the keeper but Simon and Alvarez managed to get the ball away. Late in the first half, Barca suffered their second injury. Pedri went down as he couldn't continue and felt his hamstring. He cries as he leaves the pitch and Lamine Yamal replaced him.
In the second half, Bilbao tried to attack early with a chance by Williams, whose attempt went wide. Barca also had chances, but they couldn't convert, with Lewandowski trying to attempt a shot on goal. Bilbao's defending was exceptional.

Barcelona looked exhausted in the game as they did not create a clear chance in the Bilbao half. Bilbao was close to scoring in the game's last minutes from a corner, but a header went wide. Barcelona misses a huge opportunity to get closer to Real Madrid and remains third with 58 points.
