Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola, has won another Premier League title, which is the fourth consecutive one. That is an achievement that has never been done before, and it looks like Guardiola’s complete dominance of the league will soon come to an end. Guardiola hinted that he would soon leave Manchester City, and while other rumors suggest that players like Kevin De Bruyne would leave as well, the two could be together at the MLS soon, but not with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. X User Real Tolmie suggests that Guardiola and De Bruyne could potentially join the MLS to join New York City FC. The New York club is under the City Football Group ownership, and it would be an easy move to make. Guardiola’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, as does De Bruyne’s. Real Tolmie claims that Guardiola has lived in New York City before, and the MLS club announced that their stadium would be built in Queens in 2027.

Guardiola spoke after Man City defeated West Ham United this past weekend and said, “The reality is I’m closer to leaving than staying. We have talked with the club and my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season. But during the season we will talk. Eight or nine years… we will see.” Guardiola has hinted that he would like to coach a national team after Man City, but with NYCFC interested, things could change.

Guardiola would get closer to Messi but now as an opponent in the MLS. Messi is currently coached by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino and has a good connection with the Argentine star since they are both from the same country. New York City FC has won the MLS Cup in the past, as they won their first-ever one in 2021 against Portland Timbers. Bringing Guardiola and De Bruyne into the club will make them one of the biggest clubs in the MLS, along with Inter Miami, which wants to keep Messi for as long as possible. Messi’s contract with Inter Miami expires in December 2025, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if David Beckham wanted to offer the Argentine star a renewal contract to compete against NYCFC with Guardiola and De Bruyne. New York City FC currently pays at the Yankee Stadium, which allocates more than 20,000 seats, but it could expand to 47,000.

Inter Miami’s next game in the MLS

The Inter Miami team will travel once again to Canada as they will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place. Messi played his first game in Canada almost two weeks ago against CF Montreal, in which Inter Miami won 3-2 with goals from Luis Suarez, Matias Rojas, and Benjamin Cremaschi. Inter Miami are first in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with 31 points after 15 games played. The Vancouver Whitecaps are 7th in the Western Conference with 19 points after 13 games played. This will be the first time Messi will play against the Vancouver Whitecaps in his Inter Miami career.
