Ratcliffe spoke with BBC Sports and talked about many topics regarding Manchester United. Ratcliffe has shown his interest in improving the club as a whole. Ratcliffe left the Manchester United fans a message that the goal was a success on the pitch. Ratcliffe said, "Our priority is performance on the pitch. We want Man United to be challenging for the Premier League and Champions League. That's what Manchester United is about - it's the greatest club in the world and should be playing the greatest football in the world. But it's not a lightswitch; we can't just switch a switch and all of a sudden, United will play at the level of Real Madrid because they haven't been for the last 11 years; that takes time and a bit of patience."

Ratcliffe was asked about his opinion on Manchester City and Liverpool and left a message on how he feels about them as competitors. Ratcliffe said, "They [Man City and Liverpool] have been in a good place for a while, and there are things we can learn from both of them. They have sensible organisations, great people within the organisations, a good, driven and elite environment that they work in. I am very respectful of them, but they are still the enemy. They are the enemy. Nothing would please me more than to knock them both off their perch.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe defends Erik Ten Hag and past coaches for Manchester United

Ratcliffe was asked about his opinion of Erik Ten Hag. Ratcliffe responded by saying, "What I would say, if you look at the last 11 years, Man United have had quite a few coaches. Some of them are very capable and have been very successful – but nobody has been successful in that Manchester United environment for the last 11 years. So that would say to me that there's something wrong with the environment."
