Liverpool are already working on plans for the team once Jurgen Klopp leaves at the end of the season. Klopp has been in charge of the Liverpool team for almost nine years. Liverpool is desperate to find the right man to replace him, but first, the club needs to appoint some important club members to find the right replacement. Liverpool fans were excited to hear that their former sporting director, Michael Edwards, was appointed as the "CEO of Football" at the club and has more power than when he was a sporting director. Edwards may have already made his impact known in only a week as Liverpool confirms their new sporting director ahead of next season.

Liverpool confirmed that Richard Hughes has been appointed as Sporting Director of Liverpool Football Club. Hughes is a great appointment in Liverpool fans' eyes, as he had done a great job in Bournemouth. Hughes spoke about joining Liverpool and said, "I am incredibly proud to be offered this opportunity. Liverpool FC is a unique club and I’m grateful to be given a chance to serve it in this capacity. People rightly talk about the rich history this organisation can boast, but it is the present and future which really excites me. Jurgen Klopp is leading an outstanding team and squad, and alongside that, the commitment to young players and their pathway to the first team is also outstanding.

Hughes continues and says, "I am fully aware of the expectations and responsibilities that come with taking this position. It will be my job, working with Michael [Edwards] and leading the football operations team already in place, plus the wider staff at the AXA Training Centre, to make good decisions."

Richard Hughes' signings at Bournemouth

Hughes' impact at Bournemouth has been great since he saw a great eye for talent. He signed players like Nathan Ake, Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing, Marcus Tavernier, Lewis Cook, Callum Wilson, and Aaron Ramsdale for cheap deals. Some of these players' value is doubled now, and Hughes will be trusted to find hidden talent for Liverpool.
