Just like Gavi, FC Barcelona gives first team number for another young star

FC Barcelona will look to bounce back from their two previous losses in Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal. Both losses led to Xavi announcing his departure from the club at the end of the season. Barcelona was eliminated from the Copa del Rey and is further away from a title race as Girona and Real Madrid keep winning.

Barca suffered a 4-2 loss to Bilbao and a 5-3 loss to Villarreal, making it nine goals conceded in the last two games. Barca will try to change the bad form with a win against Osasuna today at home in the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. There will be a new change in the number order as Fermín López was awarded a first team number, and it will be the number 16. Fermín was wearing the number 32 as he was a part of Barca Atletic. He played in 22 games with Barca's first team this season and scored three goals.

The latest players to change numbers to first-team numbers were Gavi and Alejandro Balde. Gavi was wearing the number 30, but last season, he upgraded to the number 6. Balde was wearing the number 28 but recently changed it to the number 3. The number 16 was previously worn by Abde Ezzalzouli, who now plays for Real Betis. Pedri also wore the number 16 at Barca but upgraded to the number 8.

Fermín López reacts to his new number, saying it's a "dream come true"

Fermín reacted to the new number with lots of excitement. He is finally considered and registered as a first-team player. Fermín says, "It's a dream come true to have a first-team number. I'm grateful to everyone who has joined me on this journey. La Masia, all my teammates and especially the coach and staff and all the colleagues who have helped me to achieve this." Fermín starts on the bench for Barca against Osasuna but he will debut his new number 16 if he comes on the pitch today.
