As El Clasico is hours away, FC Barcelona defender Joao Cancelo received death threats after his performance against PSG in the Champions League during the week. Cancelo committed a slide tackle in the penalty box against PSG's Ousmane Dembele and gave away a penalty. Cancelo spoke about the threats he received for the mistake and said, "There are comments on Instagram wishing death upon my daughter who's not even been born yet. They would not say it to my face because we would have a problem, but in the comments, they write what they want. They're offensive to my partner, my daughter, our unborn baby. It's a cruel world and you have to know how to live with it. I know how to, but I just don't know what to say anymore."

Cancelo did feel responsible for his foul in the box, which allowed PSG to take a bigger lead in the game. The penalty he gave away led to PSG taking a 3-1 lead as Kylian Mbappé converted from the spot. Cancelo said, "I couldn't sleep at the night of the loss vs PSG because I committed a childish penalty. The way we lost was heartbreaking because we actually had real hope of going through. I feel like we would've won 11 vs 11.”

Despite the negativity from the threats and the elimination by PSG from the Champions League, the Portuguese right-back feels that they need to remain positive in order to beat Real Madrid. Cancelo said, "The loss against PSG was difficult for all of us, but we have to get up, we have to be positive, and there would be no better answer than a win on Sunday."
