Former Champions League winner of FC Barcelona Dani Alves is currently on trial for an alleged sexual assault case of a woman in Barcelona. It has been over a year since he was arrested for allegedly sexually sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Barcelona. The 40-year-old has denied any wrongdoings as he was in pre-trial custody.

Dani Alves will finally testify on Wednesday. The jury table accepts his request to know all the evidence and listen to the 30 witnesses. Now is the turn of the complainant, her cousin, and her friend, who were present on the night of the incident, plus three workers.

AP News reports that Alves was arrested on "January 20th, 2023, after answering a police summons during a visit to Spain. A court ordered him to be jailed after analyzing the initial police investigation and hearing testimony from the alleged victim, witnesses," and Alves himself.

Dani Alves could face 9-12 years in jail

According to a report by AP, state prosecutors are seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Dani Alves if he is convicted. The lawyers representing his accuser want 12 years for the Brazilian. The Brazilian was ordered to have $162,000 [150,000 euros] to pay his alleged victim if he is found guilty and ordered to pay damages. His last club, Pumas UNAM from Mexico, terminated his contract after his arrest.
