Chelsea is not shy about spending lots of money on big players during transfer windows, and this upcoming summer transfer window won't be different. Chelsea will need some work to do before they go for new players this summer, as they are close to breaching FFP rules. The club is ready to offload players for funds on players like Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker signed a contract that expires in 2026, but the Nigerian is open to making a move to the Premier League soon. Chelsea is a heavy favorite to sign the striker, but now they will need to pay big in order to convince him to join.

Ben Jacobs reports that Osmihen reportedly wants to earn around $318,000 a week if he were to sign for Chelsea or another club this summer. Osimhen reportedly earns around $211,000 a week with Napoli in the Serie A, which means he wants a huge pay rise in his next move. Chelsea's top earner in the club is Raheem Sterling, with a weekly wage of $415,000 and a yearly salary of $21 million. Reece James earns the second most in the squad with a weekly wage of around $319k and a yearly salary of $16 million.

Osimhen's demands would make him the third top earner in the squad if Chelsea does sign him to a contract that has the wages he wants. Chelsea will face competition soon in the Premier League for his signature, as Arsenal is looking to sign a striker this summer as well. Arsenal journalist Charles Watts reports that Osimhen is a name the club has been looking at for a while but signed Gabriel Jesus instead back in 2022.

Arsenal were close to signing Osimhen in the past

Watts said that Osimhen was close to joining Arsenal a few years ago, but the club is now willing to try to sign him again. Watts said, "It will be interesting to see whether they move for Victor Osimhen. He is a player they like & I know that his representatives have visited Arsenal’s training ground for talks with Edu. Those talks took place in the summer when Arsenal eventually signed Gabriel Jesus. Jesus was always the priority that year, but Osimhen was definitely a player they viewed as a serious alternative."
