Chelsea looks to advance further in the FA Cup when the play Aston Villa at home

Chelsea and Aston Villa will play each other in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge. The last time these two faced off was in a Premier League match earlier in the season. Aston Villa defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and are in way better form in the league.

Aston Villa is currently 4th in the Premier League with 43 points and is five points behind league leader Liverpool. Their last game was 12 days ago in the Premier League when they visited Goodison Park and drew 0-0 to Everton. Their recent FA Cup game was against Middlesbrough on the 6th of January. In the 3rd round of the FA Cup, Villa got a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough in the Riverside Stadium courtesy of a late Matty Cash winner.

Chelsea has just confirmed their place in the EFL Carabao Cup final after destroying Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge this week. With that result, Chelsea won the overall tie with a 6-2 aggregate score. Chelsea are on a two-game winning streak after also defeating Fulham 1-0 at home in the Premier League. Chelsea are 9th in the Premier League table with 31 points and are 12 points below Villa.

Chelsea and Aston Villa starting XI’s

Chelsea’s lineup slightly differs from the one that played in the week against Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup. Petrovic starts in goal with a back four of Disasi, Thiago Silva, Badiashile, and Colwill. Enzo Fernandez is partnered with Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher. Chelsea will have a front three of Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, and Maduke.

Aston Villa starts with Emi Martinez in goal with a back four of Matty Cash, Konsa, Lenglet, and Alex Moreno. John McGinn, Kamara, Douglas Luiz, and Tielemans are in the midfield. The two strikers up top are Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins.
