A Middlesbrough player gave Chelsea the early lead after scoring an own goal. Borja has the chance to give Chelsea the opener but took a touch before trying to shoot. It didn't matter, though, as Middlesbrough’s midfielder Howson pushed the ball past his own keeper.

Then Disasi found Sterling on the right wing, who performed a cheeky backheel back to the French defender in the box. Disasi played a ball in the box, and it fell to Enzo Fernandez. Fernandez was free with lots of space and scored the second goal for Chelsea. Chelsea continued to put pressure on Middlesbrough, and sloppy passing from the Championship side cost them two extra goals.

Disasi takes the ball and starts a run after passing it to Sterling. Sterling finds Disasi in the box, and the French defender finishes past the Middlesbrough keeper. It was a very quick play by Chelsea that surprised the Championship side. Another terrible mistake by the Middlesbrough defense led Cole Palmer to get the ball easily, turn to goal, and finish the chance to score Chelsea's fourth of the night.

Middlesbrough tried playing from the back, but these two goals were examples of how not to play from the back. The team looked lost in the first half, and Chelsea are were than ever to make the EFL Cup final as they lead 4-1 on aggregate.

The second half included two more Chelsea goals while Middlesbrough scores a consolation goal

The second half started differently, as Chelsea was the one who started off with intensity. Mauricio Pochetino made one change, which was Noni Madueke for Mudryk. Chelsea took more control of the game and even knew the game was finished by subbing out Chilwill, who started his first game in four months. Chilwill was one of the best players in the first half, along with Disasi, Sterling, and Enzo.

Palmer would get his second of the day after a great run by Gallagher in the box led to him passing the ball to an open Palmer. That was Chelsea’s fifth goal, and the aggregate score was 5-1. Another goal would arrive after Madueke shoots past the Middlesbrough keeper, but a defender pushes it in. Middlesbrough did get a goal late in the game, but it was too late. Chelsea won 6-2 on aggregate and reached the EFL Cup final in Wembley. Chelsea waits for an opponent between Liverpool and Fulham.
