Chelsea are looking to make a comeback at Stamford Bridge when they take on Middlesbrough in the EFL Carabao Cup. In the first leg of the game between these two sides, Middlesbrough got a 1-0 win at home. Chelsea missed some great opportunities in the game but couldn't convert any of them.

Chelsea has 12 shots, and five of them were on target. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino mentioned how he felt disappointed in his team for missing those chances. Middlesbrough scored in the 37th minute due to a Hackney goal inside the box.

The Championship side were causing Chelsea problems in the first half and looked more dangerous at first. They were intense with the press and were desperate to score, which they did in the first half. The Championship side held on to the 1–0 win in the second half and are a step closer to the EFL Cup final.

Middlesbrough is currently 11th in the Championship and won 3-1 against Millwall and drew 1-1 against Rotherham after the EFL Cup first leg against Chelsea.

Chelsea bounced back from that loss to Middlesbrough and got a 1-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League. Chelsea scored from a Cole Palmer penalty late in the first half. Chelsea are 9th in the league table and are 12 points off a Champions League spot. Chelsea will want to complete this comeback to reach the EFL Cup final and compete for a trophy this season.

Chelsea and Middlesbrough lineups for the second leg of EFL Cup Semifinal

Chelsea have Petrovic in goal with a back four of Disasi, Thiago Silva, Colwill, and Chilwell, who starts in the starting XI for the first time since September. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are in the midfield. Raheem Sterling, Mudryk, and Cole Palmer are behind their sole striker, Broja. Conor Gallagher starts on the bench along with Madueke and Chukwuemeka.

Middlesbrough plays with a similar XI that beat Chelsea in the first leg a few weeks ago. Glover is in goal with Engel, Van den Berg, Fry, and Clarke as the four defenders. Hackney, who scored in the first leg, will play along with Howson, Barlaser, and Crooks for a four-man midfield. Rogers and Forss are the strikers for Middlesbrough today.
