Liverpool's level over the past years with Jurgen Klopp has been high. Liverpool won a couple of trophies with Klopp, including a Premier League title and a Champions League trophy. Klopp has guided Liverpool to great heights, and a part of that success is also thanks to the world-class players in their squad. Players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Alisson Becker are considered Premier League legends already while they are still playing. Liverpool has the chance to win another Premier League title as they are currently second in the table with 64 points. Liverpool is tied with Arsenal on points, but the Gunners' goal difference is higher by seven. While Liverpool continues to deliver on the pitch, a Premier League legend doesn't think highly of one particular player.

Michael Ballack is a Chelsea legend who is not a fan of a Liverpool player. Ballack called Virgil Van Dijk lucky for not having to face legendary strikers and players from the past. Ballack said, "Virgil Van Dijk is very lucky to play in an era where there is no Drogba, Lampard, Alan Shearer, Henry, Rooney, Van Persie, Tevez, Adebayor and Diego Costa in the Premier League. No wonder they think he is the best defender in the League.”

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol defended Van Dijk and questioned Ballack's statement. Nicol said, "Well I’m interested to know which part of his game he’s not happy with because if you’re looking for a physical battle, are you telling me that Van Dijk couldn’t beat anybody up physically? Even Drogba? It would be great to watch, but don’t tell me that Drogba would walk all over him physically."

Nicol continues to praise Van Dijk and question Ballack again. Nicol said, "Pace-wise, I don’t remember seeing anybody, whether it’s the Premier League or the Champions League, running past this guy. So that’s not a problem. Can he pass the ball? Yes, he can pass the ball. I’d love to know which part of Van Dijk’s game he thinks would be susceptible to any of these strikers that he was talking about.”
