Just two years after signing Diogo Jota, Liverpool are willing to increase his wages significantly and he is not the only one

The signing of Darwin Nuñez by Liverpool has generated strong expectations among fans ahead of his debut with the Reds. This is evident in the comments of the players in the squad, such as Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain, who highlights the physical virtues of the Uruguayan.

In comments to the club's official website, the midfielder commented: "Don't run against Núñez if you want to win. Van Dijk and Konaté, when they saw him in the first training session, perceived how strong and fast he is".

He also recalled the clash against the former Benfica player in the round of 16 of the last edition of the UEFA Champions League: "We played against him and saw him up close, and I think everything we saw in those games reminded me a little bit of Luis Diaz's speed. We played against him when he was at Porto."

"He's that kind of player that you know what you're going to get: athleticism, speed, strength, power. And with him it was the same. I remember having to chase Luis (Diaz) at Anfield at one point and I couldn't even catch him in sixth gear."

Finally, he left a feeling about what the former Peñarol could bring to Liverpool: "I think he has that confidence and attitude to do good things. I think he will lead the team in attack."

His amazing numbers in Benfica give the Reds hope for the future

The 23-year-old striker will be looking to replicate, in England, the fantastic season he had with Benfica, in which he scored 34 goals in 39 games played.
