Their good streak continued a week later, when the Herons visited Seattle Sounders and left Lumen Field with the three points after a 1-0 victory, although Campana couldn’t contribute to the scoresheet that game.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian striker didn’t have to wait longer to add to the score, as he gave the Herons the only goal in their victory against Miami FC, on their debut game in the US Open Cup, continuing with the good streak for both the Herons and Campana.

As if the hat trick against the Revs wasn’t enough to prove his talent, Campana was the key player for the comeback against Atlanta United, as he tied the game at 28’ and then assisted Bryce Duke to turn the score and give Miami their fourth straight victory.

He couldn’t continue his good streak

For the ninth round of the 2022 MLS Season, Inter Miami visited New England Revolutions for the second game of the season, hoping to continue their good streak that started against Bruce Arena’s team.

But after an early goal scored by the Revs, the bad news for the Herons continued, as their starting striker and new idol Leo Campana asked for his substitution just 10 minutes after the game had started, leaving Inter Miami at disadvantage.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Herons suffered a second injury just minutes after the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker leave the game, as Aimé Mabika had to be substituted by Jairo Quinteros.

Will Campana be out for a long time?

Although the Guayaquil born left the pitch on his own foot, Phil Neville and Campana didn’t want to risk deepening his injury and decided to substitute him with Emerson Rodríguez, as Gonzalo Higuaín is also injured and hasn’t played for the last two games.
